Today, I want to go a step further and give you a monthly action plan to boost your side incomes in 2024.

In case we haven’t met, I’m Genevieve. I’ve been running my e-commerce business on Etsy since 2018. In 2022, I quit my day job to focus on it full-time, and I even opened a physical shop in NYC. After helping friends set up their own online stores, I realized I could help even more people. So, here we are!

Types of eCommerce Incomes

First up, let’s talk about the types of income we’re focusing on: Affiliate Marketing, Traditional eCommerce, and Dropshipping. 

Affiliate Marketing

This is where you earn commissions by promoting products from other sellers. Platforms like Amazon and TikTok offer affiliate marketing opportunities. It’s a low-risk way to make money, especially if you’ve got a decent online following.

Traditional eCommerce

Selling physical goods on platforms like Etsy. This model gives you control over branding, customer service, and shipping. It requires an initial investment in inventory.


A mix of affiliate marketing and traditional eCommerce. You sell products without holding any inventory. When a customer orders, you buy the product from a third-party supplier who ships it directly to the customer. This reduces risk and upfront costs while allowing control over branding and customer service.

Monthly Plan

Starting an e-commerce business requires dedication and a solid plan, but the rewards can be substantial. By following this monthly action plan, you can prepare your online store for the peak holiday season and aim for success.

June: Create Your Accounts

Step 1: Create Your Etsy Account
Set up your Etsy shop to sell your products. There are tons of tutorials on how to create an Etsy seller account. You can watch this one here

Make sure to develop strong branding for your shop using tools like Canva for logos and other marketing materials.

Step 2: Create Your Social Media Accounts
Create a TikTok account. TikTok’s user base is still growing, and it’s a great platform for promoting products. Set up your TikTok Shop to directly list and link products in your videos.

Perfect for beginners. Create an account, search for products, and negotiate shipping rates. Be mindful of Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ) and start small to test product popularity.

 September - January: Promote Yourself & Products

Promotion is key to driving sales. Use Etsy’s organic traffic and boost it with social media marketing. Create engaging TikTok videos showcasing your products. While you can’t directly link Etsy products to TikTok videos, you can list them on TikTok Shop or include a link to your Etsy shop in your bio. Consistency is crucial; batch-create videos and schedule daily posts.

E-commerce success demands time and effort, but with this plan, you can reach your financial goals this holiday season.
